The night of the waning crescent grew still and vibrant. It seemed as if time had stop, with nothing in sight and no sound but the crashing of waves against the shore. The moon gave off very little light, clouding the small island from anything hidden below. The sky was completely clear, but unlike normal with the crickets chirping and other nocturnal animals rummaging about. This time footprints were heard, and with each step coming closer and closer they seemed fainter for some odd reason. A black mass was making its way through all the brush and onto the grassy land. Each step seemed more silent and still than the last, as the figure's glossy yellow eyes came into view. It stopped several times after just a few steps to lift its head from below. Every step was more cautious and more precise to block out the sound. This animal clearly didn't want to be heard, and kept looking over its shoulder to make sure it wasn't followed.
Finally as one cloud passes from over the lunar crescent, a few rays shine down upon the animal. It was pure black, and with the light it seemed to glow Grey in certain spots, with hidden red in between. This was Kuroi, a lone wolf who has been alone for quite a while, wanting to get used to this free feeling. Her legs buckled under a reed bedding, laying her cranium on her paws still listening to every sound around her. Even though there was very little to hear, Kuroi was always on her guard. Especially when she had been following a pack for quite a while now and now lays upon their territory like she's lived here her entire life. She gave one last intent to hear anything hidden in the shadows before she slowly closed her eyes to sleep. She gave a muffled sigh, her fur settling down into its rightful place. After what seemed like ages to her, she had finally settled down enough to fall into endless sleep.
The wolf's dream seemed clouded, drifting in and out of darkness many times before going blank. She shifted many times, sprawling her legs out and flipping over onto her back. Anything she tried was hopeless as this so called dream became torcher. Seeing two crumpled body masses near her feet, blood scattered everywhere including her face. Lights and shouting could be heard from all around her as her legs buckled right before her. She blinked several times, trying to clear this crazy nightmare from her mind. When she reopened them, she was watching her own body in a ring surrounded by two-legs. Each one shouting and waving small fragments in their hands. One more blink set her to the ground just before her own self. Seeing rage and the thought of kill in the yellow blood stained eyes of herself. She watched herself from the ground, snarling and baring fangs at everything she did. One more blink set her own neck in her jaw, feeling bones crushing and blood oozing out. One more moment of this sent her flailing awake in a tumble of reeds and grass. Seeing it was still dark out, but with faint light drifting near the horizon. Her head plopped back down, clearly glad of the fading dream.
