Frost came into the clearing so long ago she had made a den in. It was raggedy and dusty, not to mention wet, so she laid down next to it. Her belly was rather large, and she hated it so much. She couldn't hunt, and it was heavy, but she tried not to think about it. It would be over soon. After a lot of pain and terror, but soon. She looked around for Oak, he should have been there by now, probably got caught up with the mouse back there. She hadn't paid much attention to much else lately but hurrying up the whole process. She yawned tiredly even though it was the middle of the day and looked around again. Perhaps there would be fish in the lake. She dismissed the thought. There probably were, but she wouldn't/couldn't catch them easily.
I lost my muse again. >.<

Oak walked into the clearing Frost had made a den in a while ago. He liked the surroundings - trees, boulders, and there were many other, smaller creatures staying in them. Most of his sight was impared by the injury Lobolita had inflicted upon him. As he day dreamed he tripped on a stone and fell. How clumsy, he thought, I hate my eye. He saw Frost and trotted over with a semi-soiled mouse that had taken at least half an hour to FINALLY trap. "Sorry. I tripped." He said. He was very sorry to ruin her food and that set him into a bad mood. He had been tripping a lot lately and he could tell she was worried. He nuzzled her and pushed it towards her then ran back into the woods to get more for her. He desperately wanted the pups to be happy and healthy, but could take care of himself late into the night as Frost slept peacefully. He ran to blow off steam. He had to admit, he missed the ocean but it held... Memories that he wouldn't think about. He reached a small pond and sat, resting his head hear the water. He sighed and closed his eyes. The rest was nice. The sounds of the forests were calming... He spotted an injured bird and trotted over to it, capturing it in his strong maw. He couldn't keep doing this for long. He had practically been starving himself and had worked his tail off since he had been with Frost, but he couldn't think about anything but the pups. They occupied his thoughts day and night and he had constantly thought about how he could be a better father...This was how he could show his love and devotion, but he couldn't have it stay this way forever. He had to nourish himself, but also his kids. It would be a hard ritual to get into, but he would soon get used to it and wouldn't be so darn starved. A rustle in the bushes brought him back to reality. He sprinted back through the forest and back to Frost.

"Sorry, I tripped." Frost felt worried and amused at this. Oak was still having a bit of trouble with his eye, even considering the time he's had to adjust. Yet, what he said seemed so, funny. He left to go somewhere else. Probably because he remembered some other prey or he was blowing of steam. She watched as he disappeared through the trees. He was still strung up about it. She had constantly told him not to stress over it so much, but... Oh well. She felt a small urge to dig a hole, a den, but she dismissed it. She already had one right next to her. The water rippled and Frost looked up to see Depths coming out of the water. She hadn't seen a lot of him lately, but of course, she hadn't been around the lake lately. What? She sounded slightly miffed, but that was still how they had tended to talk lately, no offense taken. Nothing. He sounded slightly amused. What was funny? Something occurred to her. What is it? This? She gestured to her swollen belly. No. He still seemed amused. Liar. Her layer of worry for Oak was being lifted. You are so annoying. And useless. SHe added after a thought. She didn't actually say it, but he knew anyway. Why haven't you done anything useful? She changed the subject abruptly, so no more comments on that could be made. Depths stared at her for a second. Why should I? Because it would save Oak a lot of trouble! She felt her worry for him come back. This would be a hard time for him, to adjust to his new... Disability, and to need to raise some pups. I don't think so. He sniffed the air and slipped quietly under the water. He always seemed to bring out a more childish part in her. Maybe because she never had much time to exercise that part when she was a pup. Frost let out a deep breath and arranged herself more comfortably. She loved Spring. The way the breeze rustled the new leaves, the warmth. The new life, the warmth. The scent of flowers, the warmth. The not snow. The urge came back. It was much stronger this time. She gritted her teeth against it and ignored it, but it was so overpowering, she couldn't drive her mind away from it. She ignored it only for a couple moments. Well, cleaning it out couldn't hurt... In she went. It was gross in there, and once she started digging out the old dirt, she felt relieved. Of the monumental instinct and of the possibility of giving birth in this damp stinky place.
Go my muse back! *hugs muse* Don't ever move to California again!
