Small Prey,
Rabbit is deffently one of THE hardist prey to catch for a wolf. Espically an older wolf, because of their quickness. Rabbits make a small snack for a wolf. Wolves will normally hunt rabbit when there is really nothing else to hunt, because they are so hard to catch, and use up alot of energy.
Mice are incredibly small, and somewhat easy to catch. They don't make a very big meal, but if spotted, will maybe be hunted down, or just played with.
Contrary to common belief, wolves will, and do, catch and eat fish from streams and rivers. They love water, and will also play in it. Hunting for fish normally takes place in spring.
Squirrel is another small form of food that will be hunted when prey is scarce. They are fairly hard to catch, due to their ability to climb high trees, and the chase when on the ground takes up alot of energy.

Large Prey,
Due to their size and power, Moose are very hard to catch. Wolves will only go for the weak, young or old, seperating them from the rest of the herd, and using the pack strength to take them down. Lone wolves would not usually attempt to hunt Moose by themselves.
The same technique of hunting Moose would be used in hunting Elk. Their size and strength mean hunting could be dangerous, but Elk do make a large meal for more than just one wolf.
Deer is one of the most hunted prey within the forest, like moose and elk, they have hooves and powerful hind legs which could some major damage to a wolf. They hunt the weak, sick, injuryed, and old does/bucks. As well as fawns (Baby Deer).
