So, the time had come. Of course, it had been coming for a long while now, she had just been putting it off. It was wrong of her to do so, yes, but she had wanted just a couple more weeks of control. A couple more weeks of being able to call something her own, before it was taken away from her for good. It was for the best, she knew that. For the best for the pack, and the best for her mind, too. She was not managing. Would not manage. Could not manage. She wasn't capable to holding the pack together, not any more. Koiro, Halgea, Frost, Shade, and all the others, she was no longer capable of protecting them. Not now.
Red furred paws padded softly across the barren lands, kicking up dust with every step. This place used to be beautiful, full of life, but now? Things had changed. Now it was nothing but death. New life had tried to emerge, time and time again, but had always failed. Always. It wasn't the nicest of areas, but it was quiet, it was safe(ish), and it was a distance away from where most of the Xyla pack would be right now. Here, she could have a conversation in private. Kishi hadnt told the Alpha of her plans, not that she had planned to do so anyway. He'd have far to much to say on the matter, and would probably end up talking her out of it, which she did not want. Besides, she hadnt seen Shade for a while now, he'd been off busy doing Alpha things, and she.. hadnt.
Drawing in a long breath, Kishi let out a long, soft howl, requesting that her Beta, Halgea, would join her company so they could talk. The last request as Alphess that she would make.

Halgea wandered the Burnouts idly, kicking things about. Her leg was healing, but she felt as if she had done something wrong in the healing process. Did she use it too much? So many things raced through her head. Would her life ever be the same again? Her thoughts drifted pleasantly to LoneDrop, her brother. She was thrilled to have him back and didn't want to ever lose him again. She may go insane if that happened, and personally would hate to go on a murderous rampage (she wouldn't, but she hated bottling things up) for revenge on the last of her litter mates... He was the only one left... It was just the two of them now and she was determined to keep both of them alive. With that thought (mostly) resolved, her trail of thought came to all the coupling going on. Everyone knew there were... Things going on with Kishi and Shade, and Frost (FROST!!!) had mated with a wolf named Oak. What the heck?! Halgea had always known Frost to be the quiet type who was "above" that. She thought she had known her, but had been wrong on so many levels. What of Halgea? She was lonely. She didn't know anyone she thought she did, and since everyone had coupled up, barely anyone talked to her, not even LoneDrop since he was so quiet and sad seeming. she hoped something exciting would happen soon in her life since, frankly, it was quite boring lately. She heard a howl in the distance. It wasn't far away, and she could tell it was her Alphess calling for her. She ran at first towards the sound and then remembered her leg. She would have to limp now. She had irritated it. As she limped through the Burnouts, she saw the occasional scurrying squirrel and chirping bird. It was so cheery! How could the rest of nature be so carefree while she was being called to a private meeting with her Alphess that could either be wonderful, or something really, really bad. Really bad. She decided to stop worrying about bad events and think more optimistic thoughts. Kishi had no reason to banish her, so she could be assuming a new position or something. Better than the Beta position? This could be great! She finally reached the clearing and greeted Kishi. "Hello. What is it?"

Kishi hoped she would not be waiting for too long. This was pack territory, and possibly one of the safest places to be on the Island right now, but it was still the outskirts, and a reasonable distance from where the rest of the Xyla were. Given the current rumors of large bands of Rogues, calling themselves 'Zentha's followers' launching attacks on lone wolves, and even singling out members of packs, from what she'd heard, the femme wasnt feeling particularly safe. Kishi wasn't sure how true these things were, particularly regarding members of the Skyla being attacked by these Rogues, but it would probably be a good idea to find out. Perhaps they should send a small group to her brothers pack, to gather information?
So lost in her worrying was Kishi, that she didn't realise Halgea had responded to her call so quickly, and the Xyla Betans voice made her jump ever so slightly, briging her out of her thoughts and back to reality. 'Hello. What is it?' The Alphess smiled at her second in command, nodding her head in way of greeting before glancing back out across the distance, doing a casual sweep of the area to ensure that they were indeed alone. "Halgea, good to see you. Hows things?" She inquired pleasantly, working up a casual conversation before getting to the more important things that needed discussing.
She'd adress the current issues surrounding the pack- mainly to do with the rogue rumours, and the abundance of loners that seemed to have set up camp in the Xyla territory recently. Then, she would move on to the real reason she had called the Betan fae here. "Have you heard these rumours on Zenthas Rogues? Know anything about the truth behind it?" Kishi paused for a few seconds, allowing Halgea time to consider her words, before continuing. "Im considering sending a small group to the Skyla, to gather information on whats been happening. What do you think of that idea?"
[Muuuuuuse! I was thinking some Xyla should venture to the Skyla to find out details of what went off between Zenthas followers and their pack. This gives more people a chance to get RPing again, and also puts halgea straight into being incharge of matters]

"Halgea, good to see you. Hows things?" Kishi asked casually. Personally, Halgea didn't feel casual at all, but she appreciated her Alphess's attempt to calm nerves and make both of them feel better about the present situation. She could tell something pressing was on Kishi's mind and she was keen to know soon.
"I'm good! It's nice to have LoneDrop back." Was all Halgea said in reply. She wanted to ask Kishi how she was but decided she would let her control the current conversation.
The alphess then surprised her with her train of thought, "Have you heard these rumors on Zentha's Rogues? Know anything about the truth behind it?" Halgea considered this for a moment; she had indeed, but was unsure about the truth around those rumors. She had heard that Zentha was gathering a bit of an army of rogues, but other than that, she knew nothing of it. She shook her head and Kishi continued, "I'm considering sending a small group to the Skyla, to gather information on whats been happening. What do you think of that idea?"
Halgea mowed over the idea in her mind (as opposed to literally... Sorta physically impossible though -- unless you had a paper that said all of the idea on it... And you mowed over it). It had the potential to begin a bit of controversy since the Skyla and Xyla could get on... Less than perfect terms fairly easily. But, there was also the possibility that they could gain much information and possibly get on fairly good terms with the other pack! She made a mental Pros and Cons list: Pros -- may befriend some of the Skyla pack, gain information, as well as make connections for the future. Cons -- There was a possibility (as previously stated) of hostile behavior towards the Xyla and may shut them out completely. There was also an unlikely chance they would escalate to violence.
After weighing this out, she finally answered. "It is a good idea, but there are so many different scenarios and some could be big risks. I suppose as long as there are warriors and a shaman as well as a scout of course. I only mean to represent the thoughts some of the pack may have, but I think it is a great idea." Halgea was happy with her answer and felt very influential for a moment. Then she got a bit more suspicious. "Anything else you wanted to talk about? And if it is alright, may I ask about you and Shade? No pressure." She didn't want to offend a wolf of the highest rank, but she was curious...
OOC, three words, LOTS OF MUSE!!! One of the longest posts I've ever made in my life and it took three quarters of an hour!!! Thanks Kishi!!!

'I'm good! It's nice to have LoneDrop back.' Kishi smiled, nodding her undertsanding at Halgeas words. It was good that she'd gotten her brother back by her side, meaning she'd have some bloodline family watching her back, along with her pack family too. The Alphess wasn't entirey sure why LoneDrop had come back, nor what he was doing here, but it was clear that her Betan trusted him, which meant she trusted him too. He was Halgeas littermate, therefor he could stay here for as long as he wished. It must have been quite a relief for Halgea, when her brother turned up like that.
'It is a good idea, but there are so many different scenarios and some could be big risks. I suppose as long as there are warriors and a shaman as well as a scout of course. I only mean to represent the thoughts some of the pack may have, but I think it is a great idea.'
The fae considered what her Betan was saying. These were much the same issues that had been plaguing her mind, too. Going to the Skyla could either have great results, or fatal ones. Their was always the added advantage of her brother being the Skyla Alpha, but again, that really didnt promise their safety. Even in a good mood, Kaija could be fairly unpredictable. "That was my worry. Although we are not at war with them, theirs no way of telling how friendly they will be. If we were to do this, then we'd need to ensure that there are warriors here, aswell. Given the current ..situation, it would be dangerous for both groups to go unguarded."
'Anything else you wanted to talk about? And if it is alright, may I ask about you and Shade? No pressure.'
She frowned, unsure how to answer to this question. Their were other things she wished to talk about, and Shade wasn't particularly one of them. "Theres not much to tell. We had a night, and I havent seen him much since. Thats about all their is to it." Kishi paused, debating with herself whether to delve into the real reason they were here. "Halgea, for reasons I do not wish to discuss, i am revoking my status as Alphess. And with you being the Beta, that would give you the opportunity to take my place as Alphess, should you accept.

Halgea listened closely to her Alphess's replies. All valid points. But the last sentence from Kishi made Halgea freeze. "Halgea, for reasons I do not wish to discuss, i am revoking my status as Alphess. And with you being the Beta, that would give you the opportunity to take my place as Alphess, should you accept." She asked pointedly. Halgea recovered quickly, mostly because she didn't want the status to be revoked since she couldn't handle the question itself.
"Kishi... I would be honored." Was all she said at first to keep the question hanging and herself a chance to think... Once again she ran through the pros and (very few) cons of this: She could control the pack's majority decisions, she could help the pack immediately rather than asking for approval constantly, and she could lead without questioning herself... but was it what she wanted? To her she was sounding power hungry and greedy, but that wasn't who she wanted to become! Did she dare take that risk? Part of her screamed no, as she could get carried away and personal opinions on issues may bias her opinion, but the other was reassuring, because if Kishi could do it, so could she. She finally had a straight answer. "Of course. But what role will you assume? Surely this has been planned. Otherwise, I will allow you to be Beta if you choose..." She realized her error. "Assuming I get the position immediately..."
Her heart beat quickly, full of excitement and anticipation and she began thinking of all the possibilities! So many things she could do! Her future was bright and she was elated.

'Kishi... I would be honored..' Kishi smiled, relieved that Halgae hadn't freaked out over the subject, or decided to ask questions, instead of just accepting the words like she seemed to have done now. Keeping a shining eyes focused steadily on her Beta, the femme watched carefully, awaiting whatever it was her company was building up in her mind. Halgea seemed to struggle with herself silently, thinking something over in her mind without actually saying any words. Kishi waited patiently, curiously wondering what else the Betan was going to say.
'Of course. But what role will you assume? Surely this has been planned. Otherwise, I will allow you to be Beta if you choose.. Assuming I get the position immediately..'
Kishi smiled, slightly amused that the future Alphess of the Xyla was still correcting herself quickly whenever the slightest 'mistake' was made, even when the mistake was not a mistake in her eyes. 'Of course, the position is yours imediately. I will continue to serve the Xyla under your rule, but from a less demanding rank. Scout, perhaps.'

"Of course, the position is yours immediately. I will continue to serve under your rule, but from a less demanding rank. Scout, perhaps." Kishi replied. Halgea was Alphess now. The idea stunned her at first, but she came to like the idea. SHE was alphess! She could do what she had always wanted with her pack. But how could she have worked herself up to this rank in the first place? She had had a horrid start to life, and had to beg to get into any pack, not including this one. This wolf took her in, helped heal her when she was injured before Frost could get there. She respected Kishi, and what would the rest of the pack think of HER being the new Alphess? Koiro might go on a rant about how he is heir or something, Frost would be happy, but Shade... She didn't know him. How he would react... What if she couldn't control him? What if she couldn't control the pack? She took a moment to regain a confident expression. She didn't want Kishi to worry. "I am honored to be the new Alphess. Thank you, Kishi. What about Koiro? I know he would love to be alpha male of the pack, and it might bug him that I got a position first, even though it may seem strange. What will his position be in the pack? Still warrior?" She was curious. And she didn't want a lot of jealousy, or resistance because of that. She wanted to make this pack a place that would accept wolves who didn't have other places to go because of the stubbornness of other pack's alphas. But, there would be the small problem of personalities. It would be idealistic to think everyone could join and live in harmony. No, she couldn't do that. She could more easily look for loners she liked and invite them into the pack if they want. This could work out, she was sure. Halgea sighed. She had a lot to think about. There was no longer a beta in her pack! She had no one to invite to the position at the moment, and she would have to do it on her own for a bit. Here goes nothing, she thought wryly to herself. [/left] OOC, Sorry it took so long... Still a horrid post, but hey.

Kishi watched carefully, looking for the reaction that Halgea would give when the news sunk in that she was the new leader. The looks that passed over the faes face filled Kishis heart with a strange, warm fondness. She'd watched Halgea grow so much over the past few years, from the confused loner to the strong, powerful leaer she would soon prove to be, and it made her proud.
'I am honored to be the new Alphess. Thank you, Kishi. What about Koiro? I know he would love to be alpha male of the pack, and it might bug him that I got a position first, even though it may seem strange. What will his position be in the pack? Still warrior?'
The famora smiled, nodding her head down as a sign of respect for her Beta.. no, Alpha. Halgea was the Alpha now, not the Beta. This was going to take some getting used to. "Then its a done deal, my Alphess." She said with a low bow. "And dont worry about Koiro, he will not cause any trouble for you, I can promise you that. As much as Koiro would like to think it, he is certainly not ready to take on the responsibility of a pack."
[Blergh, rubbish post again. I'll swap the ranks around on the mini-profiles tomorrow morning, neeeed to sleep now haha!]
